A copper alloy silver plated contemporary copy of a shilling of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). The coin has a thin sheet of silver over the top onto which the dies were stamped; the coin has been folded in half which exposes the copper core. One half of the silver has been worn smooth while the other bears the base of the oval royal shield. Due to the condition of the coin a closer date cannot be offered.
