Probably 1646-1649. Charles I type, hammered silver halfgroat, Tower Mint, Under Parliament. Length 16.6mm, Width 15.0mm, Thickness 0.6mm, Diameter 16.6mm, Weight 0.9g. Obverse: Kings bust left with 'II' behind CAROIVS DG [MAG FR ET HIB REX] Reverse: Oval garnished shield IUST [ITIA T]HRON (UM) FIRMAT. Mint Mark: Sceptre (109), Mint Name: Tower, London. Die Axis: 90 deg. Very worn condition, surface tarnished grey and some clipping. Ref: Coins of England and the UK 38th Edition, Spink 2003, page 265, No. 2849 or 2850.

Reverse: Oval shield 'IUSTITIA THRONUM FIRMAT'. Tower mint, London under the King, Plume (101) mint mark. Little wear, no clipping and only slight grey tarnish.
