A fragment of a Post Medieval silver half groat of Charles I [1625-1649]. Aberystwyth mint, dating from AD 1638-1642. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, p. 172, nos. 2343-2344, also Spink 2901. Approximately only 1/3rd of the coin remains due probably to plough damage. It has a diameter of 15.18mm, is 0.65mm thick and weighs 0.6gms.

A very worn and clipped post medieval silver penny of Charles I (AD1625-1649) Group E 1625-1649, Single pellet initial mark and inner circle on the obverse only. Thanks g Obverse: crowned bust left I behind. Reverse: Round garnished shield. The coin appears to have been double struck has been pierced from the obverse to the reverse close to the edge at 6 o clock. The hole is rectangular in shape - possibly made with a rectangular punch or nail head. JJ North vol 2 1991 page: 163. reference: 2272 Weight: 0.9gms Diameter: 13.3mm
