A halfgroat silver coin of Charles I (1625-1649) bearing a bust of Group D type (see J.J North, 1991: 162), and an oval sheld with garniture on the reverse. The Initial mark appears to be a bell, suggesting that the coin was minted at the Tower mint between 1634 and 1635.
There is a small crack running roughly to the centre of the coin, though the artefact is in good condition overall.
Dimensions: weight 1.0g, diameter 18mm

A pierced Charles I (1625-1649) silver half groat.
Fourth bust with King facing left with mark of value II behind within inner circle. The coin is pierced neatly just below the 'II' behind the king's head. Probably group D North 2256/7. The coin is heavily worn making it difficult to determine all of the details.

Reverse: Oval garnished shield within inner circle. [IUSTITIA T] HRON [VM F] IRMAT
The coin is very worn in places, especially on the obverse, where the king's face is almost completely removed.
