The coin has been clipped at 8 o'clock to 11 o'clock on the obverse. (North 1991: 161) Overall dimensions: 24.4mm in diameter and 2.86g in weight.

A clipped struck silver sixpence of Charles I (1625-1649). Approximately 90% of the coin survives. The initial mark is missing. The coin has a Group E bust and therefore the initial marks could only have been a tun, anchor or triangle dating the coin to 1636-1640. Mint is Aberystwyth. The obverse shows a crowned bust facing left with VI behind. Obverse legend reads [CAROLVS D]G MA BR]I FR] ET HI R[EX]. The reverse legend reads [CH]RISTO AVSPICE R[EGNO]. Reverse shows a square shield over a cross pattee moline. Diameter: 22.05mm. Thickness: 0.68mm. Weight: 1.8g. Die axis: 11 o'clock…

A silver Post Medieval coin; a sixpence (possibly a groat) of Charles I (AD 1625 - 1649), probably Aberystwyth mint dating from AD 1638 - 1642. There is a plume before the king's face and the reverse is an oval garnished shield. The coin is incomplete, with only about a third surviving. It is 23.8mm long, 10.8mm wide and 1mm thick. 1.33g. See number 2333 - 2336 on page 171 of North Volume 2 (1991).
