A worn post-medieval silver Scottish twenty pence piece of Charles I (AD 1625-1649) dating from AD 1637-1642. Third coinage, Type V: Falconer's anonymous issue, Spink 5591. The coin has been pierced to de-monetise it and remove it from circulation; it was possibly nailed up (John Naylor, Ashmolean Museum, pers.comm.).
