A Post Medieval gold Double-crown coin of Charles I, issued between AD 1636-1638. Mint of Tower of London; initial mark: tun. North Group D(c) Double-crown type, identified by fourth bust and garnished oval shield with crowned C R at sides. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, p. 156, no. 2169.

Complete Charles I gold crown. The coin is in excellent condition, with only some parts of the legends worn. The initial mark is worn, but appears to be a crown (1635-1636) (North 1991:157)
Obverse: Crowned bust left (Group D) with V behind. CAROLVS.D.G.MA.BR.FR.ET.HI.REX
Reverse: Garnished oval shield with crowned C R at sides. CVLTORES.SVI.DEVS.PROTEGIT (God protects His worshippers).
