An incomplete copper hammered probable coin dating to the Post Medieval period, about 1597-1663: probably a Scottish twopence, or 'turner' of James VI (1567-1625), Charles I (1625-1649), or Charles II (1649-1685), and most likely one of the 1642, 1644, 1648 or 1650 issues of Charles I. However, it is only the size and form of the coin which suggests such an identification; it is illegible. A complete, copper alloy, Post medieval, Rose farthing of Charles I, AD.1625-1649, North 1991 (page 165, type 5, Rose type 1) AD.1636-1644. The coin is badly worn with damage around the rim and in the centre, where there is a hole. The obverse shows a double arched crown with two sceptres crossed behind it. The legend reads: CA[ROLUS D G MAG BRIT]. The reverse shows a double Tudor rose with a double arched crown surmounting it. The legend is badly worn and missing in part, however reads: FRAN ET [HIB RE]X. Diameter: 12.59mm Weight: 0.48g
