An incomplete/ badly clipped struck/ hammered silver shilling of Charles I, minted at the Tower of London, between AD 1625 - 1649 (diameter: 21mm; thickness: 0.8mm; weight: 3.3g). No initial mark remains; probable Group F bust. The coin is in a worn but fair condition. Ref: North, J, J, 1991, 'English Hammered Coinage Volume 2: Edward I to Charles II 1272 - 1662', page 160, ref nos 2231-2 (probably).

Two silver shillings (2009T229/2009T230) of Charles I were found by David Holden whilst metal detecting on 8 April, 2009. Finds Liaison Officer, Duncan Slarke was notified and received the coins on 28 April, 2009.
