The coin has been pierced, indicating a secondary function which would normally indicate that it should be considered as potential Treasure. However, since coins of this period with similar piercings appear in hoards of currency, it suggests that such objects could re-enter circulation as coins. It therefore cannot be said with confidence whether this particular object was regarded as a coin or as an item of jewellery at the time that the coin was deposited.

A complete Post medieval silver half groat Charles I (1625-49). Tower of London mint mark: star. Minted c. AD 1640-1641. The coin has been heavily clipped and the obverse is far more worn than the reverse. There are two parallel crease marks evenly placed (each is 1/3 the way in from the edge) from 2 o clock to 8 o clock on the obverse. They are similar to those made on love tokens, and there is a very slight S shape to the coin, but is hardly discernable. Size: Diameter 15.9mm, Weight 1.0g. A clipped post-medieval silver shilling of Charles I (1625-1649). Group F, sixth (Briot style) bust (North 2231 or 2232). Initial mark: unclear, dating to 1639-1646. Mint of London (Tower). North (1975, 136). The coin is much worn and heavily clipped, with very little of the legend remaining. It measures 22mm in diameter and 2mm in thickness

An incomplete post-medieval copper-alloy farthing of Charles I (1625-1649). Rose Type 2 (North 2291). Initial mark: crescent, dating to 1636-1644. Mint of London. North (1975, 140). It measures 13.28mm in diameter and 0.56mm in thickness; it weighs 0.422g. The coin contains a copper-alloy (brass) wedge which was added to negate counterfeiting. This is located at approximately 12 o'clock on both faces. The coin has suffered a small loss at its circumference at the same point.

A complete, copper, Scottish twopence of Charles I. Known as a Turner or Bodle. These coins were struck in four yeras, 1642, 1644, 1648 and 1650. The coin is worn, especially around the edges. On the obverse is a crown abover CR, on the reverse a thistle with two leaves. There is a green patina over the majority of the coin. Diameter 19.6mm, thickness 1.5mm, weight 3.0g. Seaby: 5598-5601
