A complete copper alloy 'Rose Farthing' of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). The mullet (five-pointed star) initial mark indicates it was struck at the Oxford mint under Charles I in AD 1644. Rose farthing; Type 3, North 2293 - North, JJ, 1991, English Hammered Coinage Volume 2, Spink & Son, London.

A hammered or struck silver penny of Charles I, AD1625 - 1649. Pellet Mint Mark. Minted at Oxford, AD1642 - 1646. Coin has been perforated from obverse through to reverse. This perforation has a sub-rectangular shape and is positioned close to the edge of the inner field, just below the bottom of the legend lettering (at about 7 or 8 o'clock on the obverse and 11 or 12 oclock on the reverse side of the flan).
