A post-medieval gold crown of Charles I (AD1625 - AD1649), mint mark; Crown; Tower mint, under Charles I (1635-1636). Obverse description: Group D fourth bust facing left with value mark V behind. Obverse inscription: CAROLVS.D:G.MA:BR:FR.[ET]HI:REX (Charles by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland). Reverse description: Garnished oval royal shield dividing crowned C R at sides. Reverse inscription: CVLTOR [SVI] DEVS.PRO.TEGIT (God protects His worshipers). References: Spink 2715, North 2185.
