A very worn and incomplete post-medieval hammered silver halfgroat (twopence) of Charles I (1625-1649). Initial mark unclear, probably dating to 1640-1641. North Vol II, P 162, No 2258.
Obverse description: Crowned bust left with mark of value II behind.
Obverse inscription: *[C]AROL[VS M: B: F: E][T] H: REX
Reverse description: Oval garnished shield
Reverse inscription: [IVSTITIA:T]H[RONVM:FIRMAT:]

A complete copper alloy Scottish Æ Turner or Halfgroat (two-pence) of Charles I. Struck under licence by the Earl of Richmond, dated 1632 - 1639.
Obverse description: Scottish crown over II; C R beside, below are three lozenges and to each side a pellet.. Obverse inscription: [CAR D G SCOT] ANG FR ET HIB.
Reverse description: Thistle. Reverse inscription: [NEMO ME IMPVNE] LACESSET.
