Obverse description: Crowned bust facing left, XX behind head.
Obverse inscription: CAR D G SCOT ANG FR ET HIB R.
Reverse description: Crowned thistle.
Reverse inscription: IVSTITIA THRONVM FIRMAT.
Diameter: 15.91mm. Thickness: 0.47mm. Die axis: 12.

It is slightly unusual in that it has a pellet instead of the usual lozenge above the bust of the king. It is 14.6mm in diameter and 0.6mm thick. It weighs 0.59gm. A Post-Medieval silver coin: a Scottish twenty pence piece of Charles I (1625 - 49), third coinage, probably Briot's issue, dating from AD1632 - 47. There is a large edge chip from 2 o'clock to 5 o'clock on the obverse. It is 16.3mm in diameter and 0.5mm thick. It weighs 0.56gm.

It is possible that this is a contemporary copy as the lettering is somewhat crude and there is also a die error as there is a letter missing from the reverse legend.

A Post Medieval coin; a Scottish twenty pence of Charles I (AD 1625 - 1649), perhaps a contemporary copy as the material looks to be base silver or copper alloy rather than silver. It is probably imitating a Class IV twenty pence of the third coinage (1637 - 1642). Compare Seaby number 5589 on page 84 of Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands. The coin is 16mm diameter, 0.6mm thick and is 0.97g.
