A complete post-medieval silver coin: a penny of Charles I dating from AD 1625 - 1649, Group D, initial mark two pellets. The coin is clipped and badly abraded on both sides. See North number 2268 on page 162 of Volume 2 (1991). Dimensions: 14.0mm diameter; 0.5mm thick and weighs 0.47g.
Obverse: left facing bust and value in Roman numeral "I" are largely illegible.

Reverse: oval garnished shield (royal coat of arms) without CR.

A clipped post-medieval silver shilling of Charles I (1625-1649), probably minted at the Tower under Parliament. The initial mark is partially clipped and worn smooth, and is thus illegible. The obverse bust and reverse cross most closely match North (1991, 160) Group F ref:2231. This would date the coin to between 1641 and 1643.
Obverse: [.CAROLVS.D.G.MAG.BR.FR.ET.H]I.REX.; Crowned bust left with XII (mark of value) behind head
Reverse: .CHRISTO.AVSPICE.REGNO. (I reign under the auspice of Christ); Square topped shield over cross Moline
Diameter: 29.65mm. Weight: 5.9g. DA=4:00.
