Post Medieval silver twenty pence, 16mm in diameter, 0.25mm thick with a weight of 0.71 grams. The coin is in good condition with a dark silver patina. The obverse shows left facing crowned (english type) bust with XX behind head. Inscription reads CARDGSCOTANGFRETHIB. Reverse shows crowned thistle with inscription VSTITIATHRONVNFIRMAT.

A post-medieval Scottish twenty pence piece of Charles I (1625-49), probably of the third coinage, dating from 1637-42. It is slightly unusual in that it has a pellet instead of the usual lozenge above the bust of the king. It is 14.6mm in diameter and 0.6mm thick. It weighs 0.59gm. Reference Spink, Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands, number 5581.
