A clipped silver post-medieval shilling of Charles I dating to AD 1625-1649. Group F, Sixth (Briot style) bust with stellate lace collar. Initial Mark illegible. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, p. 160, no. 2231 and 2232. Obverse: Double-arched crowned bust left with XII behind, C[AROLVS] DG [M]AG BR [I] ET H[IB R]EX Reverse: Square-topped shield over cross moline [CHRISTO' AVSPIC[E] REGN[O] Measurements: diameter 29.33mm, thickness 0.89mm and weight 5.55g.
