A copper-alloy rose farthing coin of Charles I, 1625-1649. Obverse: crown in centre with crossed sceptres behind breaking the inner circle and legend. Legend reads: [CAR]OLV/S DG/MA[G BRI]T. Mintmark is a Mullet (five-pointed star), giving the mint location as Oxford and a date of 1644. Reverse: rose in centre with crown above – legend reads FRA.ET.HI.REX but becomes almost illegible from the ‘I’ onwards. Weight 0.84g, diameter 13.36mm, thickness 1.09mm.
