A very worn silver penny from the reign of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). Pellet mintmark, suggesting that it was struck at Oxford or Shrewsbury c. 1642-1646. Possibly Group E or G, North (1994) Nos.2272-2273. Obverse description: crowned bust facing left. ‘I’ behind head. Obverse inscription: CAROLUS D G M B [F] ET H REX. Reverse description: Garnished shield, no inner circle. Reverse inscription: IUS[TIT]IA THRON[UM] [FIRM]AT. Diameter: 13.65mm. Thickness: 0.65mm. Die axis: 7.
