An extremely worn Post-Medieval copper alloy farthing, dating from the reign of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). The coin is potentially a Maltravers or Richmond farthing, depicting a crown over crossed sceptres. However, it is extremely worn and quite small.
Obverse description: Crown with double arch; crossed sceptres through the crown. Heavily worn.
Obverse inscription: [CAROLVS D G MAG] BRIT.
Reverse description: Harp with 5, 6, 7 or 8 strings and an eagle’s head, broad crown above with double arch (worn away). Heavily worn.
Reverse inscription: Illegible.

An incomplete, Post-Medieval copper alloy farthing, dating from the reign of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). A chip is missing from 12 o’clock to around 4 o’clock, the surface is quite worn, and there is some corrosion. There is also a 4.46mm long fracture at 9 o’clock. The coin is a Maltravers Round farthing, depicting a crown over crossed sceptres.

Obverse description: Crown with crossed sceptres. Mintmark possibly triangle in circle (119b) for 1641-1643, though this is not listed by Spink (2004) for these issues and only the circle is clear.
Obverse inscription: CARO[--]MAG.BRI.
Reverse description: Crowned harp

An Irish halfcrown minted during the Irish Rebellion of 1642 as an emergency currency by the Lords Justices of Dublin. The coin is an irregualar polygon stamped on both sides with the weight of a halfcrown in pennyweight and grains (9dwt:6gr).
