A worn, incomplete post-Medieval silver threepence dating to the reign of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). The mintmark is missing on the obverse, whilst on the reverse it appears that there is a book mintmark, meaning that the coin was minted in Aberystwyth around AD 1638-1649. A complete, Post Medieval, silver threepence of Charles I (1625-1649). Minted in Aberystwyth between AD 1638 and AD 1642. The initial mark is unclear but is probably a book. C.f. North vol 2, p 172, no 2340. Spelling error on reverse CHRITO as opposed to CHRISTO The coin measures 23.2mm in diamter, is 0.7mm thick and weighs 1.7g. The coin has been clipped and is quite worn, especially on the obverse.
