A post-medieval Scottish silver 12-shilling piece of Charles I (1625-49), Third coinage, type II (an intermediate issue under both Briot and Falconer), thistle at end of obverse legend and above crown on reverse, dating to 1637-42. It would have had equivalent face value to a contemporary English shilling. Reference: Spink 5559.
