Obverse: CAR D G SCOT ANG FR ET HIB R; Crowned bust left, XX (mark of value) behind. Reverse: IVSTITIA THRONVM FIRMAT; Crowned thistle. Diameter: 15.7mm. Weight: 0.76g. DA=12:7. The coin has been pierced with a circular hole, 2.0mm in diameter at 2 o' clock on the obverse. It has also been bent to form a 'love-token'. Compare with numbers 5581-5591 in 'Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands'.

Silver twenty pence coin of Charles I (1625-1649), Third coinage (1637-1642) issued by John Falconer in Edinburgh, Scotland. The coin is marked with the initial F above the crown on the reverse, which was the mark of John Falconer, the son-in-law of the French moneyer Nicholas Briot, who became the master of the Scottish mint in 1633 and was joined by Falconer later and succeeded Briot in 1646.
