Silver Charles I shilling, likely Group D, category 3a dating to 1636-8 according to Spink (2012). The obverse shows a left facing bust of Charles I with the numerals XII on the right-hand side of the bust. The bust itself is extremely worn down, most likley deliberately scratched off. Most of the rest of the coin is well preserved and there are clear scratch marks striating across the face. The crown is double-arched and there are no inner circles. Inscription reads 'CAROLVS D.G. [MA] BR.FR.ETHI REX'. Mint mark is the tun (tower mint under Charles I) sitting above the crown. T…
