A hammered silver halfgroat of Charles I (1625-49). The obverse now badly worn has the crowned bust left with the remnants of ‘II’ behind. The reverse has the oval shield with inner circle and what is probable a ‘plume’ above. That would date the coin to the Tower mint 1630-31. The coin is in poor condition being clipped and chipped at to rim with very little detail remaining to the obverse. It has a mottled dark grey/brown patina.
