A hammered silver shilling of Charles I, Tower mint under parliament c.1642 - 1649 AD. Probably from group F, the obverse has a portrait left, now rubbed out leaving at race of the crown and the value mark of XII. The reverse has the square top shield with a long cross fourchee. As with many Charles coins, the portrait is rubbed away and the rim is fritted and clipped.

Most of the inscriptions are illegible as are both obverse and reverse initial marks, making anything other than a general date difficult.
