An incomplete post-medieval silver groat of Mary I (1553-1558). Privy mark: pomegranate, dating to 1553-1554. North no. 1960 (North 1991: pp126), Mint of London. The coin is missing a small section of flan to a worn break from roughly three to six o'clock on the obverse. Obverse description: Crowned bust facing left Obverse Inscription: [MA]RIA [D.G AN]G FRA.Z [HIB RE]GI[NA] Reverse Description: Long cross fourchee over royal shield Reverse Inscription: V[E]RIT[A]/S T[EM]/POR[IS]/[FILIA] Dimensions: diameter: 22.96mm,  thickness: 0.27mm,  weight: 1.19g
