A silver Post Medieval German thaler of George and Albert, of the Principality of Bayreuth, dating to AD 1543. Obverse: + D : G : GEOR Z ALBERT. MARCHION: BRAN. Z. S L .; cuirassed bust of George and Albert facing each other, 1543 on the field above them. Reverse: + SI : DEVS: PRONOBIS: QVIS: CONTRA: NOS;Long cross, shield with eagle at its centre, a shield with of arms in angles. The thaler was struck from 1519 onwards in Bohemia at St Joachimstal; subsequently the generic name was used for all silver coins of this size. (Grierson, 1991)
