A copper-alloy sub-oval buckle frame dating from the 11th or 12th century. The outer edge and sides sub-triangular in cross-section; the latter develop into moulded devolved animal heads at each end of the bar (beast biting bar type). The bevelled front of the outer edge is decorated with engraved lines, transverse towards the centre, tending towards oblique on the sides. The bar is narrower than the frame and is recessed. A complete copper-alloy medieval (c.1250-1400AD) D-shaped buckle with narrowed offset strap bar. Description: The buckle is small, with thin bars of which the strap bar is offset. At the opposite end of the frame the loop has a central groove flanked on each side by two smaller grooves and a protruding stub creating transverse ribbed decoration . The decoration wraps around the frame front to back. The buckle pin remains in place and is formed from a piece of sheet copper-alloy. A near complete cast copper alloy, double loop oval buckle. Description: The buckle frame is formed from from to oval loops. The pin remains but has been fragmented in three, once in the ground and once since recovered. The decoration has moulded rosettes on the outer edge of each loop and at either end of the strap bar. An incomplete copper alloy double looped buckle dating to c.1550 - c.1650, the pin and most of one of the loops is missing. In the centre of the outer edge of the remaining loop is a pointed triangular knop which projects into the centre of the buckle, creating a kidney shaped aperture. A fragment of a copper-alloy Medieval buckle, dating to AD 1100-1200. It consists of a narrow strip of metal, which has an angled and pointed oval cross-section. It has a curved profile in plan, although it might have suffered some post-depositional bending. The outside face bears an integral projecting animal head set at 45 degrees to it. The animal head has the moulded details of the muzzle, eyes and the ears; the latter are attached to the strip. A medieval copper-alloy buckle of the 'gaping-mouth beast' type, complete with its pin (c. 12th century). This buckle is moulded in three dimensions and takes the form of a hollow, open-mouthed animal head which is integrally cast with a frame and bar. An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval composite buckle, dating to AD 1350-1450. It consists of an incomplete oval buckle frame with integral forked spacer and both copper-alloy sheet plates in position. The frame is bent and it has bevelled outer edges; the bar is offset with a constriction and a pin slot. The sheet plates are curved at their attachment end with an aperture with an angled groove only on the front sheet.
