Incomplete post-medieval tinned copper alloy buckle. Just over half of double-oval frame, one loop missing, trefoil moulding at either end of narrowed bar, fleur-de-lis moulding in centre of surviving outside edge. Pin missing. See Whitehead (2003), 64 - 5, no.393, 403 and 404 for examples with similar mouldings. Extant length 25mm. Width 25mm. 16th - 17th century.

An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy double-looped asymmetrical buckle (c. 1575-c. 1700). The pin is missing. The frame is convex at the front and flat at the rear. Each loop is bevelled internally at the front and rear. The smaller loop is rectangular and has a straight outside edge. The larger loop is 'D'-shaped and has a pointed outside edge. A copper alloy decorative integral plate from a medieval or early medieval cast copper alloy single loop buckle, missing its frame and pin. The plate is narrowed from the frame, with beveled edges, a collar consisting of two transverse ridges near the frame and a moulded, possibly zoomorphic collar at a rear rivet loop. A portion of a hole for the pin or a second rivet remains at the break with the frame, which has the remnants of moulded borders and small lateral projections around it. The reverse is flat and undecorated. Circa 12th century.

Incomplete medieval copper alloy buckle: perforated ends of missing frame surviving on a separate pin, copper alloy wire pin; rectangular sheet plate with pin slot, frame recesses, single copper alloy rivet at attachment-end. Length 16.5mm. Width 14.5mm. Post-Roman buckle frames with separate bars are uncommon. Cf. a large flimsy example from a mid 14th-century context in York (Ottaway and Rogers 2002, 2893-4, fig. 1469 no. 14099). Probably 14th or 15th century.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy buckle dating to the Medieval period, c. 1250-1400. Only the strap bar of the buckle and its accompanying plate survive, the rest of the object missing in old damage. The buckle plate itself is rectangular in plan and 'U' shaped in profile, its two sides secured together at its rear edge by two circular-sectioned dome headed rivets. An incomplete cast copper-alloy single looped buckle dating to the Medieval period, c. 1250-1450. This is a kidney shaped example with a 'D' sectioned frame, rounded sides and an incurved front edge. Iron corrosion on the strap-bar probably reflects the original pin (now missing), while the upper surface of the frame itself is decorated with deep irregular grooves. Preserved in good condition with a dark greyish green patina, it measures 20.81mm in length, 39.08mm in width and 2.94mm thick at the midpoint of the frame. It weighs 8.89g. Copper alloy square frame with sub-rectangular sides that have expanded circular terminal. The forwarded edge is moulded into a baluster form which narrows ends and an expanded mid section, at the rear is the narrowed strap bar. Wrapped around the strapbar is a sheet copper alloy buckle plate that has been folded in two with a shot in the centre for the pin, the pin is also made of copper alloy. There are two rivets at the rear of the plate for attachment.
