An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative hinged brooch dating to c.AD 43-120.
The tubular wings enclose an axis bar, with a rectangular slot in the centre for the pin; the pin has not survived. The wings are damaged at one end, the other has a circumferential groove at the cap. The bow springs out from the wings, it is curved and D-shaped in cross-section. No visible decoration on the bow and it terminates with an old break. Missing its pin and catchplate. Dark green patina.

A fragment of a copper-alloy Roman brooch, possibly a headstud type. All that remains is part of the wings and bow. The brooch is T shaped, the wings are short, semi-circular in cross section. At the top of the bow is a raised moulding of an oval shape, beneath which are recessed rectangles before terminating in an old break. On the top of the wings is a stump, possibly for a chain loop.

An incomplete worn enamelled copper-alloy flat disc brooch dating to 80-250AD. A small disc, with the (now missing) pin mounted between two worn lugs. On the centre of the disc is a centrla reserved spot surrounded by a concave sided hexagon on whose cusps are small circles, and in the recesses are remains of blue enamel. A similar example can be seen in Mackreth, 2011, pg 108, plate 105, 11599 and 10656.

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy possible trumpet brooch dating to circa AD 75-175. All that remains is part of the bow, foot and catchplate. The foot is triangular in form, with a flat base, and a recessed triangle, which may have been enamelled. To the reverse are the remains of a catchplate. The central disc is knobbed, and has concentric circles design. Similar examples can be found in Mackreth, 2011, pg89, plate 86, 5587-5625.

The wings are short and rectangular in shape and sub-circular in cross section. The bow is circular in cross-section. There is no visible decoration. It is possibly phallic in deisgn, of which paralells can be found in Mackreth, 2011, pg 127, plate 124, 7942.

An incomplete copper-alloy flat enamelled disc brooch dating to 80-250 AD. It is missing it's pin, catchplate and is worn around the edge. It would have been enamelled, with eight peripheral lugs. The eight equidistantly spaced flat circular lugs around the flat perimter plate have a six petalled flower design, which reflects the central deisgn on the plate. One of the lugs appears to have been pierced potentially as a chain loop.
Similar examples can be seen in Mackreth, 2011 pg 110, plate 108, 11180.

Concentric bands divide face into enamelled rings with the remains of blue enamel in the outer band, with ten small projecting lugs around the outside. An almost complete Roman cast copper alloy brooch of headstud type dating to c.AD 75-200. The brooch consists of a hinged pin attached to short wings on either side, and a curved bow with a column like foot and catch plate. The outer faces of the wings are decorated with three transverse grooves. To the reverse is a narrow cylinder with a slot in the centre which holds a hinged pin and axis bar.
