A very small miniature axe head of an early Bronze Age form, with a narrow butt and flared blade edge. The axe is probably votive and most likely Roman in date. The metal is mottled light greyish-green and highly oxidised.

A heavily corroded and fragmentary artefact which could be a small copper-alloy flat axehead in an early Bronze Age style. The axe is possibly a chisel axe used for fine carpentry work, but is could also be votive. The axe remains at a constant width towards the blade edge, the other end appears to have broken off but the breaks are very worn. The edges of the blade are straight. In profile the axe has a thin butt, which thickens slightly towards the main body and then thins again at the blade. The metal is mottled mid greenish-brown in colour and is heavily pitted. A complete lead-alloy axe of probable medieval date, c.AD 1200 - 1500. The head of the axe is sub-trapezoidal, flaring slightly to the cutting edge, and flattened due to damage at the butt end. An integral circular sectioned shaft projects from the head tapering from a wide butt end to a rounded point atop the axe head. The metal has a light brown/white patina and is worn. The object is 38.7mm long, 23.2mm wide, 8.3mm thick and weighs 29.5g. Ground axe-head. This example has not been polished. The entire surface is covered with the scars of the grinding-down process. Whether this example would have been polished can not be determined. The stone itself is a limestone and it has a uniform light grey patina.

An incomplete stone axehead of Neolithic date, c. 3500 - 2100 BC. The axehead is trapezoidal in plan with an ovate section. The surfaces are rough and covered in a thick creamy-white/brown cortex with chips to the cutting edge displaying the dark green/grey interior. The axe fragment is 91.3mm long, 46.5mm wide, 20.5mm thick and weighs 115g. The axe is comprised of a grey-green fine-grained siliceous tuff - a sedimentary volcanic rock possibly from the Great Langdale quarries in Cumbria.
