A Medieval iron axe head (10th - 13th century). The width of the axe head expands from the butt (width: 50.19mm) to the curved cutting edge (width: 88.57mm). The upper edge is straight but the lower edge curves downwards. In the centre on one side a makers mark has been stamped. The mark is a cross where the length is twice the width of the arms. It is arranged so that the long arm of the cross is aligned along the length of the axe head. The axe head is broken across the vertical perforation for attachment on the butt, ?broken in antiquity. Early Medieval or Medieval iron axe head, 116mm long, 64mm wide at its widest point, 8 to 16mm thick and weighs over 60g. The elongated triangular shape of the blade suggests a an earlier medieval date, but as the hafting edge is missing and the object is qwuite corroded, its hard to be more precise.

Anglo-Scandinavian 'T' shaped axe 8th/12th century AD part of an extensive collection from a known settlement. The length is 155mm, width of blade 125.1mm, blade is 36.2 mm wide, thickness 9.5mm shaft above the blade bar of the 'T' is 22.4mm wide by 20.6mm length. The socket has a length of 37.1mm, width is 42.8mm, the eye is slightly square and measures 38.7mm by 24.0mm.
