A complete coral tubular bead, probably Medieval – Post Medieval. The artefact is difficult to date, but the proposed date range is realistic given its foreshore context. The bead is a cylindrical shape with a circular section. There is no inner ridge so it has been drilled from one side. The diameter of the drilled hole is 4.0mm. The bead has been manufactured out of white coral from a Mediterranean brachial species. The outside edge has been left undecorated and has the natural pock-marks of the coral. Visible on either end of the bead are the laminate sheets of the coral growth. …

Undated oyster shell with drilled hole, 36mm long, 25mm wide and 4mm thick. The object is in good condition with a white patina and weighs 2.97 grams. The object is sub triangular and consists of the 'hinged' part of an oyster and has had a 2mm diameter hole drilled into it near one end.

A pair of oyster (Ostrea edulis) shells, possibly discarded after consumption. Although Roman pottery has been found in the vicinity, a later date ought not to be ruled out. One is longer and heavier (L.: 92.3mm, W.: 54.8mm, Wt.: 43.7g) than the other (L.: 77.1mm, W.: 77.0mm, Wt.: 25.6g).

An unidentified object made from an oyster shell with a strange oblong hole cut out of its centre. The shell measures 50mm by 45mm and the hole is 14mm long and 1mm wide. It has been cut very clearly with a sharp object and by hand as the shape is not exact. It is impossible to date and its purpose is unknown.
