Object type: FABRICATOR
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Neolithic/ Bronze Age probable fabricator, measuring 65.4x40.6x(max)11.4mm and weighing 24.24g. The upper left dorsal edge extends to the left where it is c.14mm wide and c.10mm thick. There are several negative flake scars. The end of this protuberance is blunt but rounded and shows sign of abrupt working. It is noticeable too that while the rest of the flint is white (heavily patinated) in colour and rough to touch, this part is smooth, glossy and grey in colour.

Object type: MODEL
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Neolithic/ Bronze Age arrowhead rough-out (probably), measuring 44.9x28.1x8mm. It weighs 8.60g. The dorsal face has 80% cortex except around the edges where working has removed it. In addition is 15% heavy patination. The ventral face is brown flint with a little edge damage. At the proximal end is a slight projection, which is probably too thin and twisted (from the line of the flint) to be made into a barb. The right dorsal edge has abrupt working whereas the left dorsal edge looks rather more damaged.

Object type: AXEHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Incomplete Neolithic axehead with damaged cutting and butt ends. It measures 94.2x49.4(cutting edge)x28.6mm and weighs 235.87g. The axehead is lentoid in section but the sides are flattened. The cutting edge is quite thick - 5.5mm at breaks - and has very jagged damage. The butt end (38.8mm wide) is more damaged, possibly recently as it shows a black colour beneath the surface. The rest of the axe has an amount of orangey iron staining. The stone is not local, and may possibly be from Cornwall. It consists of large particles and looks a little like granite.

Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Warwickshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Three waste knapped flint flakes or debitage. The three flakes have been knapped from an opaque red/brown coloured flint. One flake has a patch of cortex remaining, with multiple scars on the dorsal surface. One flake also has multiple scars on the dorsal surface, whereas the third is probably a fragment of a flake. Together the pieces weigh 5.1g. The debitage probably dates to the Mesolithic to early Bronze Age, -8300 to –1500.

Object type: BORER
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Probably Neolithic or Bronze Axe flint implement (possibly a borer) that appears to have been fashioned from a broken polished axehead. It measures 53x(max)30.7x15.6mm and weighs 26.09g. The 'cutting edge' is 29.1mm wide but has been re-worked on either side with semi-abrupt flaking, although the original polished axehead was probably not that much greater in width. This is where the polished surface survives and it has on one surface c.50% patination, and on the other c.20% light patination. Re-working shows a medium grey flint underneath. Above the cutting edge the sides narrow…

Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: NEOLITHIC

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A discoidal invasively retouched flint scraper which is probably Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age in date. The scraper is sub-circular and is 38.1mm long, 37mm wide and 9.6mm thick. It is invasively worked apart from the proximal end which is cortical. There is semi abrupt retouch on the distal end and sides. The flint is mid grey in colour and is hardly patinated. High quality discoidal scrapers are commonly found associated with Bronze Age burials and may have had a ritual function (‘Prehistoric Flintwork by Butler, 2005), but this example, though finely made, is not of the same …
