Record ID: NCL-97D4F2
Object type: PENDANT
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint pendant of possible Prehistoric date, though a more Modern date cannot be ruled out. The pendant is a drop-shaped nodule of flint with a perforation of diameter 4.14mm at the rounded end. The perforation appears to have been drilled through the flint, though some chipping is apparent around the edges of the perforation on one face. One face of the pendant is relatively flat while the other has a vertical medial ridge with faces rising to join it. The flint has only been roughly knapped on this latter face.

A flint barbed and tanged arrowhead dating from the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age period of 2500 - 1500 BC. The arrowhead is 27mm long and 25mm wide. It has pointed tangs and a fairly square end to the tang. It may be a Sutton type. It is invasively retouched and has been carefully worked. The flint is a light orangey grey colour and appears to be completely patinated. Barbed and tanged arrowheads are frequently found in graves containing Beaker vessels. This example is complete, but it is more normal to find damage to one or both of the barbs ('Prehistoric Flintwork' by Butler, …

A discoidal invasively retouched flint scraper which is probably Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age in date. The scraper is sub-circular and is 38.1mm long, 37mm wide and 9.6mm thick.
