Eight lithic implements 1) Blade length 52mm, width 18mm, thickness 8mm. One arise running down the centre of the dorsal, soft hammered bulb of percussion on the ventral. This artefact has been damaged by post-depositional activity. Creamy patina with grey patches, this artefact dates to the Early Mesolithic. 2) Truncated blade length 34mm, width 20mm, thickness 5mm. Two arises on the dorsal, the bulb is missing from the ventral, this is the distal end of the blade. Light creamy-brown patina with large grey patches. This artefact dates to the Mesolithic. 3) Truncated …

Nine scrapers 1) End scraper length 33mm, width 20mm, thickness 7mm. One arise on the dorsal, soft hammered bulb on the ventral 70% cortex on the right side of the dorsal. The forward edge has direct, abrupt, flaking scars that results in a convex terminal, grey flint with a patina forming, this artefact dates to the Late Mesolithic. 2) Side and end scraper length 30mm, width 25mm, thickness 10mm. The left and forward edges have semi-abrupt, scaled, direct flaking scars. Light grey patina, the retouch has removed the original patina exposing mid-grey flint, this artefact dates…

1) Two bladelets average size length 20mm, width 10mm, thickness 4mm. Both have one arise on the dorsal and a small bulb on the ventral, both are truncated with the distal end missing. Both have creamy patina and date to the Late Mesolithic. 2) Miscellaneous retouch on a flake length 27mm, width 21mm, thickness 7mm. The distal has been truncated, short, inverse low angled retouch on the butt. Edge-gloss on the left blade, this may be a silica gloss which was deposited on the blade from the cutting of fresh plants. Grey flint with a patina at one end, this artefact possibly dat…

Object type: LITHIC CORE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint single-platform microlith blade core, triangular in plan, oval in section and trapezoidal in profile. The core has had blades taken off it on only two thirds of the way around its central axis, with a layer of cortex running from one third of the edge of the platform down to the base of the core. The flint is a translucent brown-grey colour and the curvature of the core suggests that it was made from a local beach pebble. The length to breadth ratio is 4:5, which is usual for micro-cores. Bond (2004) illustrates similar examples on page 120, Fig.5.104, No.82, which is dated…

Flint single-platform microlith blade core, sub-rectangular in plan, oval in section and square in profile. The core has had blades taken off of it on three quarters of the way around its central axis, with a layer of cortex running from about half of the edge of the platform in an arc down to the base of the core. The flint is a translucent grey-brown colour and the curvature of the core suggests that it was made from a local beach pebble. The length to breadth ratio is almost 5:4, which is usual for micro-cores. Bond (2004) illustrates similar examples on page 120, Fig.5.104, N…
