Knapped flint side scraper, probably of Bronze Age date. There is a slight bulb of percussion, however the proximal end has been removed leaving a slight hinged fracture. The scraper is semi-circular in plan and has a triangular cross section. The dorsal surface has semi-abrupt retouch along its narroest edge. The wider edge of the dordal surface is 13.62mm thick and is covered in approcimately 50% natural grey cortex. The remainder of this edge around to the distal end has been worked with covering removals to create a curved edge. The flint is mid to dark brown in colour. The scraper…

A flint thumbnail scraper, made from a retouched tertiary waste flake. The ventral face is very slightly convex and the bulb of purcussion appears to have been removed by a recent break. The dorsal face has three flaking scars, surrounded on three edges by semi-abrupt to abrupt retouch. The distal end has a slightly rolled edge resulting from later damage probably through ploughing or similar action. There is a large flake missing at the proximal end, which appears to have occured naturally following deposition. The flint is green-grey-whitish in colour, with a milky patina which has o…

Knapped flint scraper on a re-used primary flake. Possibly bronze age in date. Mass: 9.3g; length: 25.8mm; width: 27.1mm; thickness: 12.3mm. Gray/brown coloured flint. Dorsal face is approximately 50% cortex, with retouch around approximately 75% of the edge. There is a white patina covering the ventral face. A similar patina is evident on the dorsal face, although where the flake has been retouched, the (unpatinated) brown/grey flint is evident – indicating that this scraper is manufactured from a re-used flake.

A flint tool of the Late Neolithic-Early Bronze Age. The tool consists of a long (56mm) flake with retouch along two edges and no remaining cortex. The flint is patinated, dark brown in colour and some damage, probably occurring after burial, is noticeable at the edges. Tools of this form are usually classified as scrapers, though this may also have been used as a knife. Similar examples may be found on this database, for example BERK-B1AF16.

Small crude scraper made on a secondary flake. The flake has a large bulb of percussion on the ventral side. the striking platform is faceted but arises on the dorsal side suggest parallel removal of previous flakes. There is a small amount (c.2%) of cortex down the right side on the dorsal face but this edge is damaged from breaks; the form of the cortex suggests it was made from a flint pebble. There is retouch along the left edge of the dorsal face with a gap at the proximal end. The rotouch is scalar and semi-abrupt, short at both ends becoming more invasive towards the centre of …

Large oval scraper made from a primary flake removed from a flint pebble. The domed dorsal face is covered with pebble flint cortex except around the edges where it has been removed by retouch. The ventral side is plain apart from some possible use-wear chips, it has a very defuse, soft bulb and ripples. Around half the edge on the dorsal face is long, abrupt, parallel retouch. It becomes invasive and more semi-abrupt around one side and is also longer at the point opposite this side with the edges between these areas having shorter scalar retouch and in some areas none at all. It is …

Large, invasive, abrupt, parallel retouch or removals down the right edge of the dorsal face , becoming narrower, finer retouch towards the distal end. The distal end it self appears damaged with the edge hackled and broken away but with the remains of large, invasive, abrupt, parall…
