A translucent grey/brown piece of flint with some cortex on the exterior. Evidence of blade removal on one side. Position of what appears to be the striking platform is now a series of jagged edges, implying the platform was removed post usage, tanother area also contains chip damage, probable post usage damage. The flint does not appears to be of the best quality and may have had only a few pieces removed prior to disposal.

Flint single-platform micro-core, curvilinear square in plan and tear drop in profile. The core has had flakes taken off two thirds of the way around its axis, with a layer of light grey cortex running from the platform to the base on the remaining third section. The flint is dark grey colour with cream flecks. Bond (2004) illustrates a similar example on page 110, Fig. 5.94, No. L2, which is dated to the Mesolithic.

Flint single-platform micro-core, curvilinear square in plan and parallelogram in profile. The core has had flakes taken off two thirds of the way around its axis, with a layer of cream cortex running from the platform to the base on the remaining third section. The flint is a mottled light to dark grey colour with red brown inclusions and was likely derived from a local beach pebble. Bond (2004) illustrates a similar example on page 110, Fig. 5.94, No. L2, which is dated to the Mesolithic.

Mottled light grey piece of flint, rectangular in plan and profile, appears to be the remains of a wasted bladelet core, possibly two opposing platforms. The dorsal face contains a medial ridge with the proximal end appearing more sherdy and broken, possibly due to the quality of the flint or having been subjected to heat (no indication of actual burning). Evidence of at least two bladelets having been removed from the core, the left margin has broken edges, whilst the right margins appears to be broken, up to the medial. The ventrla face is smooth, with the bulb of percussion sti…

Mottled grey flint core with over 50% of the cortex remaining, likely derived from a local beach pebble. Appears to have had a single striking platform, with indications of the removal of several bladelets. Examples of hinged and feather terminations present around the work face. The amoutn of cortex remaining implies no further removals occurred. Measures 24.20 mm in height, 33.48 mm (broadest), 26.37 mm (narrowest) and 24.2g in weight.

Cylinderical piece of flint, mottled light to dark grey in colour, with some remains of cortex. Appeasr to be the remains of a wasted core, with at least two bladelets having been removed from a single striking platform, although no striking platform is evident, probably removed post disposal. Single platform core with bladelets taken from one face and pressure flaking on the opposite face. Smooth white to grey cortex covers most of the pebble. It is a mottled light to dark grey in colour and was probably made from a local beach pebble. Mercer 81 illustrates a similar core on Page 119. fig 50. Number L12 which is placed in a neolithic period. Saville suggests that beach pebbles such as this did not flake as effectively as as the non-beach nodules.

This a multi platformed core with irregular flake removals giving a sharp and denticulated edge to the platform.. It is made from pebble flint and still has a secondary amount of cortex remaining. It is a fresh piece with some flakes still adhering. Butler (2005) illustrates a similar example on page 180, fig.74, No.5 which is dated to the Bronze Age.

A bladelet core on a pebble of about 50mm diameter, judging by the remaining cortex. The single platform has been worked three quarters of the way around leaving only 2 square centimetres of the platform area remaining. This must have been considered exhausted as the now opaque grey/brown flint has been spalled and crazed by fierce heat in a direct fire, unlike the controlled heating for heat treatment, likely achieved by burying pebbles in sand under the fire pit as recent experiments show.(CBA) Butler(2005) illustrates a single platform bladelet core on page 85, fig.30,5.

A radial core worked from acute angled platforms on both sides around the periphery. The flint is dark grey with cream flecks. This core is possibly the result of a change in knapping strategy when a single platform core, worked all the way around has approached exhaustion and a few more flakes may be obtained. Finally a little semi-abrupt retouch shows re-use as a scraper.Butler(2005) illustrates a radial core with less parallel flaking; suggesting a single knapping strategy in that case, on page 156, fig.65, 7.

A flake core on a pebble of about 40mm diameter, judging by the remaining cortex. The single platform has been worked one third of the way around leaving 5 square centimetres of the platform area remaining. This may not have been considered exhausted. The platform edge is abraded and removals appear to have gone well from this preparation. The pebble flint is coloured cream. Flint core, triangular in plan and lozenge shaped in profile. This appears to be a core tablet flake with a sharp proximal edge. The distal tip may have had possible use as an awl. There is also the possibility it was used as a graver. The core is dark grey brown with cream flecks in colour.
