Object type: FLAKE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Denbighshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint flake of possible late Neolithic to early bronze age (c. 2700-1500BC). The flint is a translucent caramel colour with small dark flecks. There is a low crushed bulb of percussion with heavy ripple marks on the ventral face suggesting it was detached with a fairly heavy rock as a hammer. Evidence of scale-like retouch on one side only appears to be deliberate rather than accidental post-depositional damage. Length: 41.9mm; width: 22.2mm; thickness: 7.3mm; weight: 6.1g
