A complete flint Acheulian handaxe dating to the Lower Palaeolithic. The axe is ficron in form. The butt is U shaped and contracts quickly before tapering to a point. It has fairly straight, slightly battered edges. One face is relatively flat while the other is more convex near the butt. The variable yellow-brown to dark grey flint has developed a white patina around the butt on both faces and near the tip on one face.

A complete flint Acheulian handaxe dating to the Lower Palaeolithic. The axe is probably ficron in form although with a squared off tip. The butt is U shaped and the tip squared off. It has fairly straight, slightly battered edges especially around the butt. It is covered by removals which have been smoothed by water action. It has yellow-brown patches within dark grey flint and has developed a thick dark grey patina around the butt and in places on each face.

The butt is irregular and generally U shaped with a recessed area missing and the tip is pointed. It has fairly straight, battered edges. It is covered by large shallow removals.

It has a patch of rough grey patina on one face.

A Lower Palaeolithic ovate flint handaxe, probably dating between 800,000 and 250,000 years ago. The axe is ovate in plan and pointed-oval in cross-section. The handaxe has a cream-coloured patina with patches of orange-brown coloured patina along many of the flake ridges. The tip of the axe is missing, having been broken in antiquity. The axe is smooth and rolled. The axe was discovered on the beach at Stokes Bay, Gosport, circa 1987. A small flint Palaeolithic handaxe dated circa 500,000-40,000 BC. It has a pointed distal end and a fairly rounded proximal end. There is bifacial working and there is retouching to both long sides. The dorsal surface has a completely white patina and the ventral surface has a flecked greyish patina with a large area of cortex still remaining. The ventral surface has many bulb scars. Length 87.17mm, width 61.01mm, thickness 19.14mm, weight 99.8g.

A small Neolithic lithic implement, formed into a thumb scraper. The flint is roughly oval in overall shape, but has a domed top and a flat base. The top has been left with 70% cortex. It has been formed from a light orangey-brown flint. The bulb of percussion and striking platform do not survive. The worked edge of the scraper has steep retouch.

A complete flint Acheulian handaxe dating to the Lower Palaeolithic. The axe is 'ovate' in form. Both the butt and the tip are generally U shaped in plan although the tip is slightly more pointed . One edge is straighter than the other but both are fairly straight and slightly battered. Both are covered with large shallow removals. The yellow brown flint pale yellow-white patina over much of one face with areas of iron staining and a patch of thicker white grey patina on the opposite face. A fresh break around the tip suggests the flint may originally have been much darker grey.
