A struck flint blade of Early Mesolithic dating (8300 to 6500 BC). The blade is sub triangular in plan. The dorsal (upper) surface exhibits three main flake scars down the length of the blade. A small area of cortex is still present at the base of the blade. There is some deliberate retouch down the the right hand side, with some secondary pressure flaking down the left side. The ventral (lower) surface displays conchoidal rippling down the length of the blade, radiating down from the striking platform at the top. The blade is a mid to dark colour, with little surface pati…

There is limited visible retouch on the right hand edge of the dorsal face, more retouch is visible on the corresponding edge of the ventral face. The blade fragment is 31.6mm in length, 13.0mm wide and weighs 2.4 grams.

A possible knapped flint Neolithic blade or fabricator. The flint is a mottled red/brown colour. In plan the blade is an sub elongated pointed oval. The dorsal surface has two linear negative scars with run the length of the blade. Both terminals are slightly rounded, which appears to be due to wear. Both side edges have re-touch, however one edge also shows signs of more recent damage. The ventral surface also has re-touch and flaking which covers more of the surface, particularly at the terminals, compared to the dorsal surface. In section the blade is a sub-triangle. It measures 58.…

A probable knapped flint serrated blade or denticulate. The blade appears to have been formed from a flake which developed a patina, and the one lateral edge has been re-touched forming notches (denticulations). The flake is an elongated triangle in plan, with the proximal terminal missing. The ventral and dorsal surfaces have developed a light grey/brown coloured patina. However the break at the proximal terminal and the re-touching on the lateral edge of the dorsal surface reveals a mid brown coloured flint. The blade weighs 4.6g. The blade is probably early Neolithic (-3500 to -…

A possible knapped flint blade. The blade has been knapped from flint a mid beige flint which has since developed an off-white patina. In plan the blade is sub-rectangular, and is broken recently at the proximal terminal. The distal terminal, in profile curves from the ventral surface up to the dorsal surface. The dorsal surface has three vertical slender negative flake scars, therefore the blade is trapezoidal in section. The blade measures 20.94mm long, 8.19mm wide and 3.31mm thick. It weighs 0.7g. The blade probably dates to the Mesolithic to Neolithic period, -8300 to –2500.

The object is a knapped blade, possibly a notched blade from the Neolithic period. The blade is knapped from a mottled mid grey coloured flint. In plan the blade is a sub-rectangle. The section is trapezoidal in shape. The upper edge is broken and has therefore lost its bulb of percussion. The lower edge is obliquely angled with cortex remaining. One of the long sides has a possible notch, forming a sub semi-circular indentation. The blade measures 49.1mm long, 22.98mm wide and 4.46mm thick. It weighs 6.62g.

A Mesolithic to Neolithic flake fragment. The flake is broken above the ventral end. There is a visible striking platform and bulb of percussion on the ventral face. The dorsal face has a number of parallel arises on the left of the dorsal face. There are a number of small losses on the right hand side of the dorsal face which could be small scalar retouch, there is no patina on the retouch which suggests accidental damage. The flake has a light grey patina on the surface. The flake fragment is 24.9 mm in length, 16.25 mm wide and weighs 2.1 grams.
