A knapped flint flake: The flake is knapped from an opaque mid brown coloured flint. The flake has two wide vertical scars on the dorsal surface and the ventral surface has a bulb of percussion and concentric rings. Along one side there is a patch of cortex. The flake weighs 15.1g and measures 34.22mm long and 31.07mm wide. The flake is prehistoric, probably dating to the Neolithic period (-3500 to -2100) when considering the size of the scars on the dorsal surface.

A knapped flint scraper. The flint is an opaque light brown/beige colour. In plan it is a sub-drop shape. The dorsal face (the face with the most scars) has retouch around the lower edge, the upper edge forms a narrowed off-set flat striking platform. The ventral face (smooth face) has no retouch, but has concentric rings and bulb of percussion. The scraper, with the striking platform at the top, is 39.32mm long and is 33.3mm wide. It weighs 7.6g. The scraper dates to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age periods, c. 2500 to 1500 B.C.

A retouched secondary flake from a blue-grey flint with the bulb and platform retained. There is some retouch on the lateral edges restricted to the dorsal surface only. This is an ad-hoc (non-formal) tool and may have been used as a scraper. This tool measures 29.05mm long, 21.35mm wide and is 6.39mm thick and weighs 3.8gms. It dates from the Neolithic to Bronze Age.

Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Warwickshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Knapped flint oblique arrowhead, possibly. The flint is a dark brown flint. In plan the arrowhead is an elongated sub-triangle. The ventral surface has concentric rings and a striking platform forming the base of the arrowhead. The dorsal surface has possible re-touch along the side edges and particularly at the lower edge and left-hand corner. It is the nature of the re-touch which may suggest the object is not an arrowhead. The arrowhead measures 32.18mm long and 17.41mm wide. It weighs 2.1g. If this is an arrowhead, it probably dates to the Neolithic period, 3500 to 2900 B.C.

The blade measures 19.64mm long, 9.47mm wide and 2.68mm thick. It weighs 0.6g. The blade probably dates to the Mesolithic period, -8300 to –4500.

Core tool length 43mm, width 31mm, thickness 19mm. Multiple flaking scars on both the ventral and dorsal sides, rounded butt. The sides are undulating and would not have been used as a working edge, the forward section appears to have been truncated (old break). The narrowness and method of flake removal suggests that this may have been a Late Mesolithic adze.
