A probable late Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint artefact, probably a discoidal knife. The knife is sub-rectangular in shape. The proximal end is quite smooth and may have been polished whilst there is very slight retouch at the distal end. The left edge has had a number of notches removed through pressure flaking from the dorsal surface, perhaps allowing this edge to be utilised as a serrated blade. The opposite edge has also been subject to pressure flaking, although the notches on this side are smaller and occur on both surfaces, perhaps allowing this edge to be used as a scrape…

The object is a serrated knife which has been knapped from flint. The knife probably dates to the Neolithic period. The flint is a mottled blue/white and grey colour. The proximal end has been broken recently revealing a mid grey coloured flint. The surfaces of the knife hare covered with negative scars, created by pressure flaking. Along one edge there is a purposefully knapped serrated edge. In plan the knife is a sub-pointed oval, and measures 46.9mm long, 15.1mm wide and 5.9mm thick. In section it is also a pointed oval. It weighs 4.3g.

A probable late Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint knife (c. 3500 BC - 1200 BC). The knife is struck from a tertiary flint flake and is sub-oval in shape and D-shaped in cross-section. The ventral face has faint ripples and shows no signs of retouch. The dorsal face has invasive, covering, low-angled retouch that is parallel on the left hand edge and scaled on the right hand edge. The knife is dark grey in colour. Comparable examples can be seen in Butler (2005: 171): nos 7-8. The overall dimensions are as follows: 46.88mm in length, 17.91mm in width, 5.81mm in thickness a…

An incomplete knapped flint invasively-retouched knife of the later Neolithic or Early Bronze Age date (2900 BC - 1800 BC). The flint is an elongated oval in plan and an irregular semi-circle in cross section. The apex in cross section is slightly off-centre. The flint has been worked from a larger flake and the ventral face shows evidence of conchoidal ripples and a mottled blue/white patina. The oval striking platform at the proximal end also has this mottled blue/white patina. The dorsal surface and the two lateral edges of the dorsal face show evidence of significant retouch which…

Mesolithic to early Neolithic (-8300 to -2900) probable knife or blade: The implement has been knapped from the flint core. The dorsal surface has a central vertical scar and then the lateral edges have a vertical scar also. The distal end is rounded due to retouch on both faces. At this end, on the dorsal surface there is a patch of cortex. The ventral surface has a bulb of percussion, conchoidal ripples and striking platform. At the proximal end, next to the bulb of percussion there is possibly a notch which has been knapped, or it is recent damage, it is uncertain which. One latera…
