The flake is struck with a hard hammer on a piece of pale grey flint that is developing a yellow patina over areas of its surface. The flake has a plain striking platform and there are traces of cortex surviving on the dorsal surface. The flake edges are abraded, rolled and slightly chipped.Daniel Pett68.6102-4.208175NMGW-5A0784161588Levallois1FLAKESS4786finds-161588240.78NMGW-5939E4images/mlodwick/113153400145E595B20141242007-02-28T14:46:10ZCertainx1438742006-03-01T00:00:00Z051.552084PALAEOLITHICFlint41424PA12http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/PALAEOLITHICCertainCommunity2022-07-14T07:07:41.153ZSwansea100Unitary AuthorityKnapped/flaked1Fieldwalking25492From a paper map1161438.5Unitary AuthorityCertain4NMGW25492Penrice2635124623.6Swansea108372014-03-07T16:51:25ZReturned to finderWalesPrehistoric flint utilized flake with a length of 50.9mm, a width of 67.8mm, a thickness of 8.5mm and a weight of 23.6g.Daniel Pett50.910-4.22302524NMGW-9B92F0132704Utilized1NMGWPA 2006.1.15FLAKESS4687finds-132704367.86NMGW-9B8D57Completeimages/mlodwick/10014469B92D013BC42006-05-16T12:36:13ZCertain4051.5607967Flint414241CertainCommunity2022-07-14T07:07:26.295ZSwansea10Unitary Authority1Fieldwalking25492From a paper map116143Unitary AuthorityCertain4NMGW25492Penrice26351246Swansea108372014-01-15T16:50:03ZReturned to finderWalesPrehistoric flint naturalDaniel Pett10-4.20861064NMGW-9E88641328001NMGWPA 2006.1.41FLAKESS4787finds-13280038NMGW-9E86D2Completeimages/mlodwick/10014469E88401C7142006-05-16T15:58:12ZCertain051.56106903Flint414242CertainCommunity2022-07-14T07:07:26.358ZSwansea10Unitary AuthorityKnapped/flakedBRONZE AGE1Metal detector254921161501UN8.6Unitary AuthorityCertain4NMGW25492Restricted Access4.9Swansea108372020-12-21T11:39:50ZReturned to finderWalesCirca

Prehistoric notched flint flake
The flake appears to be core rejuvenation flake and is cortical with remnants surviving near the distal end. Near the distal end on the opposite face is a retouched notch (13mm long). The flint is patinated pale grey and the notch appears to cut through the patination, implying secondary use of the flake.
