Nine items of flint debitage. The items are likely to be prehistoric, probably dating from the mesolithic to the neolithic periods (c. 8300 BC to c. 2100 BC). 1. Flake. Light grey coloured flint. Length: 33.6mm. Width: 31.9mm. Thickness: 8.7mm. A ridge on the dorsal face, with cortex to one side (about 50%). Bulb of percussion and conchoidal ripples on the ventral face. 2. Irregular waste/core fragment. Length: 53.6mm. Width: 42.2mm. Thickness: 17.9mm. Mass: 35.1g. Grey/brown coloured flint. One face consists of approximately 30% cortex. There are also negative flake scars and rid…

A complete tertiary debitage flake of probable Neolithic dating (4000 BC to 2350 BC). It has been struck from a prepared core, when reducing down a nodule to form a core tool. It is blade like in form. There is retouch to the ventral face along one edge (short, abrupt, parallel). Probably made for a specific task and then discarded. It measures 25.5 mm in length, a maximum width of 17.8 mm and is 3.9 mm thick. It weighs 15.0 g.

Flint working debitage of probably the mid to late Bronze Age period, dating from c. 1600 - c. 800 BC. The object is probably an implement formed of a tertiary flake removed from a larger core, and then subjected to further working. The object is broadly square in plan and a tapered D shape in section. The left side of the dorsal face has a rectangular removal which has conchoidal ripple marks from the proximal end. There is a triangular removal above this with conchoidal ripple marks from the distal end. To the right of these is a triangular removal with shallow ripple marks from …

A complete struck / knapped, secondary debitage flake, of probable Neolithic dating (c. 4,000 BC to c. 2, 350 BC) The debitage flake is sub trapezoid in shape with approximately 5% of the cortex remaining on one side. A bulb of percussion is present on the dorsal (underside) surface. The front (ventral) surface exhibits several longituditial flake removal scars. No retouch appears to be present. It measures 23.0mm in length, 19.2 mm wide and 4.8 mm thick. It weighs 2.0 g. The flake has been made from a mid grey brown flint, with little surface patination.
