Knapped flint flake. Prehistoric (probably Mesolithic to Bronze Age). Brown flint. Mass: 3.1g; length: 29.5mm; width: 21.4mm; thickness: 6.3mm. On the ventral face there is a bulb of percussion and ripples of the conchoidal fracture. On the dorsal face there are negative flake scars and small areas of cortex (<5%) at the distal and proximal ends. Approximately 60% of the dorsal face is patinated.

Record ID: WAW-C7E642
Object type: FLAKE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Staffordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A knapped secondary flint flake knapped from an opaque mid brown coloured flint. The ventral surface has a bulb of percussion, bulbar scars and concentric ripples. The dorsal surface has three deep scars forming a prominent ridge. This is probably a core rejuvenation flake. The flake weighs 3.39g and measures 34.3mm long, 16.64mm wide and 7.49mm thick. This is probably a core rejuvenation flake dating to the Neolithic to early Bronze Age (-2500 to -1500).

Record ID: SWYOR-B31673
Object type: END SCRAPER
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Staffordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint end scraper dating from the Neolithic – Early Bronze Age. The flint is pale-mid grey with a small patch of cortex at the butt where it has been struck from the core. The tool is roughly tear shaped; the wide rounded end is finely worked into a scraping tool on the dorsal face. There is some further retouch down the left and right dorsal edges but this does not appear to be for use as a scraping edge. The scraper weighs 7.66g and measures 40.41mm in length, 23mm in width and 7.88mm in thickness.

Record ID: SWYOR-B4BAD4
Object type: END SCRAPER
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Staffordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint end scraper dating to the Neolithic – Early Bronze Age. The flint is honey coloured with a small patch of cortex at the distal end of the ventral face. The tool is roughly oval in shape; unusually, the curved proximal end (as opposed to the distal end) of the dorsal surface bears the fine retouch forming the scraping edge. The ventral face has a bulb of percussion at the proximal end and terminates in a hinge fracture at the distal end. The scraper weighs 4.26g and measures 27.03mm in length, 20.19mm in width and 8.36mm in thickness.

Record ID: SWYOR-B4C108
Object type: BLADE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Staffordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Long worked flint blade dating to the Mesolithic period. The blade is mid-brown in colour and displays a double dorsal ridge. There is some fine retouch along the left dorsal edge. The left ventral edge also has some fine retouch in a localised area which has created a small semi-circular notch about a third of the way up the edge from the proximal end. The piece has been labelled by the finder and has a shiny fixative on the ventral face. The blade measures 60.1mm in length, 14.3mm in width and 6.86mm in thickness.

Object type: THUMB NAIL SCRAPER
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Staffordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint thumbnail scraper made from a flake and dating to the late Neolithic - Early Bronze Age. The scraper is sub-oval in shape with a finely retouched curved edge on the dorsal face. There is a small patch of cortex on the dorsal face and a V shaped butt area where the original flake was struck off the core. The ventral surface has a pronounced bulb of percussion with ripples radiating from this point across the surface. There is no retouch on the ventral surface. The scraper weighs 3.57g and measures 23.4mm in length, 19.4mm in width and 7.78mm in thickness.

Record ID: SWYOR-B4E4B1
Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Staffordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint scraper dating from the late Neolithic - Early Bronze Age. The scraper is semi-circular in shape with a finely retouched section of curved edge on the dorsal face. The scraper appears to have been broken so that part is missing – this may be plough damage. There is a patch of cortex on the dorsal face at the butt. The ventral surface shows the bulb of percussion with ripples radiating from this point across the surface. There is no retouch on the ventral surface. The scraper weighs 3.87g and measures 24.9mm in length, 15.7mm in width and 9.3mm in thickness.

End and side scraper probably dating to the Early Bronze Age. The scraper is oval shaped and the dorsal face has been worked almost across the whole surface. The retouch is continuous around the edge of the tool. The ventral surface shows a pronounced bulb of percussion with ripples radiating from this point across the surface. There is no retouch on the ventral surface. The scraper weighs 8.86g and measures 31.8mm in length, 22.8mm in width and 10.3mm in thickness.
