An irregular knapped piece of blade-like debitage dated provisionally to the later Mesolithic period (6500-4500 BC). The debitage has a small area of cortex on the upper edge - suggesting that it has been struck from the outer edge of a core. One long edge has abrupt retouch applied with a hard hammer, although this may be a bi-product of movement within the ploughsoil.
The blade measures 23.3mm length, is 13.5mm wide and 4.4mm thick; it weighs 1.27 grams.

Snapped knapped flint blade of probable later Mesolithic or earlier Neolithic date (4500 – 3500 BC). The flint is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and lentoid in cross section. The ventral (reverse) face has a distinct bulb of percussion and conchoidal fractures; a slight striking platform is present on the heel of the flake. The dorsal face show several flake scars. There is a little abrupt retouch to the long edges on the dorsal face, although this could easily be caused in the ploughzone through tumble. The flint is a mid greyish brown colour with a series of flaws and different co…

Long worked flint blade dating to the Mesolithic period. The blade is mid-brown in colour and displays a double dorsal ridge. There is some fine retouch along the left dorsal edge. The left ventral edge also has some fine retouch in a localised area which has created a small semi-circular notch about a third of the way up the edge from the proximal end. The piece has been labelled by the finder and has a shiny fixative on the ventral face. The blade measures 60.1mm in length, 14.3mm in width and 6.86mm in thickness.

Retouched flint blade, possibly dating from the Mesolithic – Neolithic. The blade is sub-rectangular in plan and has a curved section. There is some limited retouch around the edges and the tool may have been used as a knife. The blade weighs 5.06g and measures 41.9mm in length, 14.9mm in width and 11.2mm in thickness.

Flint blade, probably late Mesolithic to Neolithic. The blade has a strip of cortex up the right dorsal edge and a curved proximal end with some retouch. The blade may have been used as a cutting implement. The blade weighs 2.64g and measures 35.9mm in length, 14.5mm in width and 4.3mm in thickness.

Flint blade, probably late Mesolithic to Neolithic. The blade has a squared distal end with a sharp corner possibly used as a piercing tool. The blade may have been used as a cutting implement. The blade weighs 3.31g and measures 40.7mm in length, 16.9mm in width and 4.7mm in thickness.

A complete knapped flint blade, dating from the late Mesolithic – early Neolithic period, between c. 6500 – 2900 BC (length: 27.5mm; width: 16mm; thickness: 3.5mm; weight: 1.4g).
On the ventral side of the artefact, there is a bulb of percussion with two eraillure scars and multiple radiating ripples or ‘lunettes’ below and running down the length of the flake towards the distal end. On the dorsal side, there are three main arrises, but there is no retouch along the edges.
A blade, according to Bond, C, J, 2004 ‘Guide to the Identification, Assessment and Recording of Lith…

A complete retouched bladelet of later Mesolithic date, circa 4500-3000BC. The blade was struck from a prepared core and if it had not been reworked would be best described as secondary debitage
The flint is broadly triangular in plan and 'D' shaped in cross section. Approximately 50 % of the dorsal face is covered in a mid grey coloured chalk / limestone derived cortex. A striking platform and shallow bulb of percussion are present on the ventral face. One parallel sided blade removal is present on the dorsal face, suggesting that the core was relatively unworked when this blade wa…

An incomplete retouched tertiary flint blade of later Mesolithic date, circa 4500-3000 BC.
The implement is a blade formed from a tertiary flake which has a D-shaped section. The blade has snapped at the proximal end, therefore the bulb of percussion is lost although the conchoidal ripples are visible. A number of small parallel flakes have been removed from the dorsal face. The retouch on the implement is short, parallel, low angled and is present along the left edge towards the distal end. It is likely that this blade was retouched around the long edges to be used as a scraping and …

Serrated blade characteristic of Early Mesolithic period. 40 mm in length, 12.3 mm wide. The blade is largely flat along one edge while the serrated edge is curved. The flatter edge retains a section of the cortex, which covers half of the dorsal face lengthways, and the remaining flint is largely grey and brown, with warmer tone towards the distal end. The bulb of percussion is identifiable at the proximal end although it may have faced damage on the dorsal side where there is an L-shaped break when viewed in profile. On the ventral face there is evidence of short …

Incomplete, likely broken from a blade. The segment is 22.8 mm in length from the proximal end up to the point of breakage, which is marked by a clean break across the width. No cortex remains, and the blade segment is primarily a mid-to-light grey colour that is warm in tone. There appears to be some evidence of short retouching which, when facing the ventral side, appears as a serrated left edge and a possibly denticulate right edge. On the ventral face, there are conchoidal ripples visible which emanate from a small bulb of percussion.
