A complete knapped flint blade, dating from the late Mesolithic – early Neolithic period, between c. 6500 – 2900 BC (length: 27.5mm; width: 16mm; thickness: 3.5mm; weight: 1.4g). On the ventral side of the artefact, there is a bulb of percussion with two eraillure scars and multiple radiating ripples or ‘lunettes’ below and running down the length of the flake towards the distal end. On the dorsal side, there are three main arrises, but there is no retouch along the edges. A blade, according to Bond, C, J, 2004 ‘Guide to the Identification, Assessment and Recording of Lith…

A Neolithic flint blade, dating between 4000-2200 BC (length: 28mm; width: 28.2mm; thickness: 11mm; weight: 8.70g). The bulb of percussion is clearly visible on the ventral side below the striking platform with only slight and sparse radiatting ribbles or 'lunettes'. There does also appear to be possible radial scars radiatting outwards from the bulb. On the dorsal, there is a line of off-white cortex along the left side with a large flaking scar in the centre running nearly to the end of the tool's length. A curved/ smei-circular blade to the right side on the dorsal which continu…

A possible worked flint possible blade (length: 53.7mm; width: 17.5mm; thickness: 8.1mm; weight: 7.43g). General working is recognisable on the dorsal and ventral. The bulb of percussion is no longer visible on the ventral, but some ripples or 'lunettes' are still visible running down the flint's length. There are smaller worked areas along the left side of the ventral. Part of the core is still visible at one end.

A prehistoric worked flint, probably a Neolithic to early Bronze Age blade. The flint has had significant retouch applied to one edge, presumably to facilitate comfortable handling. It is sub-rectangular in plan and sub-triangular in section. It measures 32.2 mm long, 10.3 mm wide and weighs 2.8 grams. The flint is a pale cream to brown in colour.

A worked flint tool of Neolithic date, formed from a blade. The tool is perhaps either a knife or an unfinished leaf shaped arrowhead. It has invasive retouch on the dorsal face but not on the ventral face. The striking platform, bulbar scar and bulb of perussion are still intact at the proximal end. It is likely that these would have been removed and that both surfaces would have been subjected to invasive retouch if it were a complete arrowhead. There is an area of cortex at the distal end of the flint which perhaps rendered it unsuitable for further working and, if an arrowhead, it…

An incomplete struck / knapped blade, formed from a secondary debitage flake, of probable Neolithic dating (c. 4,000 BC to c. 2, 350 BC). The probable blade has a sub trapezoidal cross section, and is sub rectangular in shape. Retouch is present along the lower short side (short, subparallel, abrupt). The probable blade has been made from a piece of secondary debitage, probably the remains of a core for making blade. The flake has been made from a dark grey flint, with little surface patination. Length: 52.3 mm Width: 25.3 mm Thickness: 13.1 mm Weight: 21.6 g

A complete retouched bladelet of later Mesolithic date, circa 4500-3000BC. The blade was struck from a prepared core and if it had not been reworked would be best described as secondary debitage The flint is broadly triangular in plan and 'D' shaped in cross section. Approximately 50 % of the dorsal face is covered in a mid grey coloured chalk / limestone derived cortex. A striking platform and shallow bulb of percussion are present on the ventral face. One parallel sided blade removal is present on the dorsal face, suggesting that the core was relatively unworked when this blade wa…

An incomplete retouched tertiary flint blade of later Mesolithic date, circa 4500-3000 BC. The implement is a blade formed from a tertiary flake which has a D-shaped section. The blade has snapped at the proximal end, therefore the bulb of percussion is lost although the conchoidal ripples are visible. A number of small parallel flakes have been removed from the dorsal face. The retouch on the implement is short, parallel, low angled and is present along the left edge towards the distal end. It is likely that this blade was retouched around the long edges to be used as a scraping and …

Serrated blade characteristic of Early Mesolithic period. 40 mm in length, 12.3 mm wide. The blade is largely flat along one edge while the serrated edge is curved. The flatter edge retains a section of the cortex, which covers half of the dorsal face lengthways, and the remaining flint is largely grey and brown, with warmer tone towards the distal end. The bulb of percussion is identifiable at the proximal end although it may have faced damage on the dorsal side where there is an L-shaped break when viewed in profile. On the ventral face there is evidence of short …

Incomplete, likely broken from a blade. The segment is 22.8 mm in length from the proximal end up to the point of breakage, which is marked by a clean break across the width. No cortex remains, and the blade segment is primarily a mid-to-light grey colour that is warm in tone. There appears to be some evidence of short retouching which, when facing the ventral side, appears as a serrated left edge and a possibly denticulate right edge. On the ventral face, there are conchoidal ripples visible which emanate from a small bulb of percussion.
