Slight bulb of percussion on ventral side; no ripples or ‘lunettes’; multiple arrises of dorsal side; retouch to top, left and right. A small waste dominated lithic assemblage of five blades/flakes, found scattered over a field (approx 100m2). The blades/flakes appear to be at least partially incomplete, and the absence of patina on some edges suggests that some damage may be recent, possibly from ploughing. 1. Blade(?), incomplete, brown/grey flint, 0% cortex, light patina. Three scars on the dorsal face, length 23.1mm, width 12.0mm, thickness 6.6mm, mass 2.03g; 2. Blade, incomplete, brown/grey flint, 5% cortex, light to moderate patina on approximately 10% of the surface, length 23.7mm, width 15.2mm, thickness…

A small waste dominated lithic assemblage of ten probably mesolithic (8300BC to 4500BC) worked flints, found scattered over a field (approx 100m2). Some of the flints are incomplete; some damage appears recent, possibly from ploughing. 1. Blade, largely complete but the distal tip is missing, black/brown flint, approximately 10% cortex, incomplete bulb of percussion and shallow ripples of the conchoidal fracture on the ventral face. Negative scars on the dorsal face are unidirectional. Length 26.3mm, width 11.8mm, thickness 4.5mm, mass 1.4g. 2. Blade, incomplete (recent (?) break a…

Four flint debris or waste (microliths?) (lengths ranging from 23-33mm; collective weight: 4.32g). All of them have been struck once or twice on the dorsal to create one main arrise, including some evidence of re-touch on two of the artefacts. On the ventral side, the ripples or ‘lunettes’ or clearly visible illustrating the force of the impact. Probably dating to the Mesolithic period between 8000-4000 BC.

A knapped/ worked Mesolithic flint blade, dating from c. 8000 - 4000 BC (length: 38.3mm; width: 11mm; thickness: 3.7mm; weight: 1.62g). There are no radiatting lunettes down the ventral side indicating the force the impact when the flake was knapped from the core, and there are two arrises on the dorsal side. The artefact is in a slightly worn but good condition.

A collection of seven worked flints (collective weight: 54.96g), as listed below: 1. One core rejuvenation flake, dating from the Mesolithic – Neolithic period between c. 8000 – 2200 BC. The flake has numerous dorsal scars and is struck off and ‘rejuvenated’, therefore creating a fresh flaking bed on the core face, and prepares the core platform and face for further removals. 2. One core rejuvenation flake, dating from the Neolithic – Bronze Age period between c. 4000 – 2200 BC. As No. 1. 3. One piercer/ awl, dating to the Bronze Age between c. 2200 – 800 BC. A retouc…

Lithic implement in the form of a notched flint blade of earlyMesolithic date (9000 -8000BC) or early Neolithic (4000-.3300) date The blade is rectangular in plan and has a crested cross section. The blade has been struck from a prepared core in it's tertiary phase of working. The striking platform and bulb of percussion are present on the ventral face. Both long edges have been reworked - the right hand edge has a large notch which has been formed through retouch that can be best described as being short stepped and abrupt. Directly opposite this notch on the right hand edge on the v…
