Record ID: SUR-AAA884
Object type: HANDAXE
Broad period: PALAEOLITHIC
County: Reading
Workflow stage: Published Find published
A Lower Palaeolithic handaxe, made from a mottled grey flint now largely patinated a light creamy yellow. The axe measures 130mm x 102mm and is 52mm thick. It is a fine symmetrical biface; approximately 50mm of the tip is missing and the broken end is patinated to a lesser degree than the remainder of the axe, suggesting the break is ancient and probably much later than the original deposition.
